Todd,

I will ask Lori to be prepared to take my place for the 10:00 FERPA session.  (Is the schedule correct that I am the only scheduled presenter for that session?)

I am hesitant to volunteer for the 11:00 session because I am selfishly interested in attending (or having my staff attend) the PLU session on delivering bad news.  How we communicate information or decisions is an important skill and this looks to be a good opportunity for some beneficial professional development.

However, what do you think about a FERPA issues session at 2:30?  I would be interested in leading a discussion on how folks are dealing with such FERPA issues as students appearing in campus photographs used in promotional publications, accepting emailed transcript requests, methods for delivering the Annual Notice, how we deal with parents who call for information or make requests on behalf of their students, how we respond to subpoenas or similar requests for academic records, how we comply with the Solomon Amendment, and how we provide information to faculty who request records on students.

No need to apologize, Brad.  This is completely understandable.  Yes, please do ask Lori whether she would be available to take your place.

Might Lori (or you) be available to present two FERPA sessions?  We have tentatively set aside the 10 - 10:50 and 11 - 11:50 slots for FERPA.  (See http://waacrao.org/annualconferenceagenda.aspx .)  We are very flexible on specific FERPA topics.

I am sorry to report that I am now a "maybe" for WaACRAO - I just received a summons that could have me serving on a jury on April 3rd.

Do you have someone else in mind for this session or would you like me to prepare Lori Blake, the Associate Registrar at UPS, to possibly take my place?
